Privacy Policy

Akhdemny is a delivery and local marketplace app in Qaha, Egypt. You order from local restaurants and stores, and our own drivers deliver to you. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. Akhdemny is the data controller responsible for your information. We aim to handle your data in a way that is consistent with Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020, the "PDPL").

Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to run the service and complete your deliveries:

• Account details — your name and phone number. We use phone-based sign-in, so your phone number is your main identifier.
• Location — precise (GPS) and approximate location. We use it to set your delivery pin and to show you live driver tracking while an order is on the way.
• Delivery addresses — the addresses you enter for each order.
• Order and purchase history — the items you order, order totals, and delivery details.
• Search queries — what you type when searching for stores or products in the app.
• In-app chat messages — messages you exchange with the store or driver about an order.
• Wallet balance and transactions — your in-app wallet balance and top-up or refund history. Payment is cash on delivery, so Akhdemny does not collect or store any card, bank account, or other payment-card numbers.
• Push notification token — a device token used to send you order updates.
• Device and diagnostics data — basic device information and crash logs, used to keep the app stable and secure.

How We Use Your Data, and Our Lawful Basis

We use your data to create and manage your account, take and deliver your orders, show you live driver tracking, run your wallet and any refunds, send you order-related notifications, provide customer support, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the app reliable. We rely on the lawful bases available under the PDPL: performing the service you asked for (delivering your order), your consent (for example, location access, which you can turn off in your device settings), and our legitimate interest in keeping the service safe and working. We do not use your data for automated decisions that produce legal effects on you.

Who We Share It With

For each order you place, we share the order details and delivery location only with the specific store and driver fulfilling that order, so they can prepare and deliver it. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

Service Providers

We use trusted technology providers to run Akhdemny. They process data on our behalf, under our instructions, only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — accounts, database, and backend (EU region).
• Cloudflare — hosting, maps and map tiles, and content delivery.
• PostHog — product analytics (EU region).
• Sentry — crash and error diagnostics (EU region).
• Expo and Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivery of push notifications.
• Upstash — real-time driver location, used for live tracking during an active order.

Your data is processed and stored on these providers' reputable cloud infrastructure. Because some of these providers operate outside Egypt, your data may be processed or stored outside Egypt. Where that happens, we rely on providers that apply recognized security and data-protection safeguards.

How We Protect Your Data

Access to your data is restricted by authentication and database access rules, and traffic is encrypted in transit. No system can be guaranteed perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data against loss, misuse, and unauthorized access.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your account and order history for as long as your account is active, so the service works and we can support you. You can delete your account at any time — in the app under Profile → Delete Account, or by emailing us. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and your order history and cascades the removal of your personal data; this cannot be undone. We may retain minimal anonymized or financial records only where Egyptian tax or commercial law requires us to keep them.

Your Rights

Consistent with the PDPL, you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct inaccurate data, to delete your data, and to withdraw consent you previously gave (for example, by turning off location access). To exercise any of these rights, use the in-app controls or contact us using the details below. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Children

Akhdemny is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
